QuicKeys X3 Features

General
Automated Tasks
Multi-step shortcut Tools

General
Triggers: hot keys, sticky keys, toolbars, timers & quickeys menu
•  Use hot keys, which can be virtually any key combination, to trigger your QuicKeys shortcuts.
•  With the Sticky Key option, you can also string a series of hot keys together for even more flexibility. For example use F1->I->E to launch Internet Explorer and F1->E->M to launch your e-mail application.
•  Create toolbars that contain buttons for any or all of your shortcuts. Like other triggers, toolbars can be for all applications or application specific (the toolbar will only appear when the specified application is open). Toolbar tabs allow you to have one toolbar with multiple tabs - each containing different sets of shortcuts.
•  Set timers to activate shortcuts at a specified time on any day of the week. Timed triggers can repeat at an interval which you define.
•  Launch shortcuts, open the QuicKeys Editor and control playback of steps from custom menu selections in the QuicKeys Dock menu or QuicKeys System menu.
•  Shortcuts can be triggered automatically after a specific application opens, quits, becomes front-most or leaves the front.
•  Users can now directly assign shortcuts to buttons on a USB mouse, trackball, joystick, and even special keys like Eject and Mute on a keyboard.
•  If a user has a microphone attached to their Mac, they can assign a unique phrase for any QuicKeys shortcut, which when spoken will activate that shortcut.
•  QuicKeys Shortcuts can be saved as files and can now be used in any toolbar application - even on the dock. This also allows Shortcuts to be played by other applications like iCal or FileMaker.
•  All shortcut triggers can now be tied to a time-range qualifier. When this qualifier is grouped with another trigger users can limit that trigger's operation to specified time ranges.
Recording & Playback:
•  With the recording feature, QuicKeys will watch and record your actions so you can play them back at any time. This feature is great for quickly automating longer, multi-step tasks.
Scope & Subscopes: all applications & application-specific shortcuts
•  Designate shortcuts to work only in certain applications or in all applications.
•  You have the option of excluding certain applications from the “All Applications” scope.
•  In addition to being able to set the scope for each shortcut, users can now assign subscopes for the different parts of the selected application. For example, have the F1 hot key do one thing while editing a document and have it do something else when doing print layout.
shortcut Import & Export:
•  Transfer your shortcuts to another computer or user. Great for utilizing the same shortcuts on multiple computers or for sharing your favorite shortcuts with friends or co-workers.
Public/Shared Shortcuts:
•  A new way to share shortcuts has been added, giving a whole office the ability to be efficient together. Using Public Shortcuts, administrators can now publish shortcuts that users can easily subscribe to. Plus, any changes made to these Public Shortcuts will be updated on each user's machine automatically whenever QuicKeys is launched.

Automated Tasks
Files: manage files, open items & change folder
•  Move or copy files and folders to a specified destination. Great for archiving or backing up a large number of files.
•  Open applications, documents and folders quickly.
•  Switch to a specified folder when in an Open/Save dialog window to instantly navigate to often used folders.
System: clips, computer, switch application, terminal command & finder views
•  Create and organize collections of images and text for quick retrieval in any application.
•  Automatically logout, shutdown, sleep or restart your computer, start your Screen Saver and start and stop the Classic environment.
•  Switch between any open or specified applications, with the option to hide other open applications – a powerful tool for multi-step shortcuts spanning multiple applications.
•  Send terminal commands to the system without having to open the Terminal app.
•  Change the view of either the frontmost Finder window or all open Finder windows to icon, list or column view.
Internet: web addresses & e-mail
•  Launch your favorite and most frequently visited web sites instantly, from any application or open selected text as a URL.
•  Send e-mail messages faster with a predefined subject, body and address.
User Actions: button, menus, clicks, mouse recording, pop-up menu, scroll wheel, window controls & type keystroke
•  Operate buttons in any window, locating them by name or their position on the window or screen.
•  Automate the selection of menu items to reduce mousing or for use in a multi-step shortcut.
•  Simulate mouse clicks or series of clicks, defining their click and release points, drag duration, number of clicks and modifier keys.
•  Record mouse actions and play them back in real time.
•  Select pop-up menu items from various windows by name or location.
•  Use your keyboard to simulate a mouse scroll wheel.
•  Minimize, close and zoom windows, as well as toggle the window toolbars on and off using your keyboard instead of the mouse.
•  Override keystroke assignments built into your applications.
Text: type text and date & time
•  Automatically type predefined blocks of text with a single trigger.
•  Insert the date and/or time in the format you define.
•  Text Tools Shortcuts allow users to quickly clean up superfluous white space, turn styled text into plain, change case and more.
Network: servers & shared drives
•  Connect to AppleShare (IP) and AppleTalk Servers on your network. Great for use in a sequence to mount volumes for backing up your files.
Printers: switching
•  Users can save time by letting the Switch Printer shortcut select the right printer for them rather than having to do so manually in the print dialog.
Scripting: applescript
•  Store and execute AppleScripts or run compiled scripts from a file.

Multi-step shortcut Tools
QuicKeys: insert shortcut, quickeys actions, message, wait, pause & repeat loop
•  Add an existing shortcut as a step within a multi-step shortcut.
•  Control different attributes of QuicKeys with a collection of tools for working with the QuicKeys program itself.
•  Display a dialog, play a sound or speak a message. Can be used as a break point, built into a multi-step shortcut so you have the opportunity to stop or proceed from that point. For example, if you have a timer triggered shortcut which goes off when you’re doing something else on your computer? Start that shortcut with a Message step and give yourself the opportunity to cancel the shortcut, but set it to continue after 10 seconds if not dismissed.
•  Pause your shortcut until a specified window, button or user input is met. For example you can pause your shortcut until a specific window opens.
•  Pause a shortcut for a user-specified length of time during playback, allowing you to time events better, ensuring QuicKeys does not get ahead of the action.
•  Repeat a shortcut or specified steps within a multi-step shortcut.
Step Results:
•  Allows you to add logic to your shortcuts by instructing QuicKeys how to react based on the outcome of a step - if the step succeeds do this, if the step fails, do this. Step Results also allows you to jump to a particular step or an offset of a step in a shortcut.
More Logic & Variables:
•  Now users can use variables and simple equations in their QuicKeys Shortcuts. They can even write their own functions - giving more power and control to sequences. Put this together with the much improved Wait shortcut and the new Decision shortcut and you'll have control of your Mac like never before.
